With these two new food routes from Valencia and Murcia to Great Britain, the company adapts its current transport’s logistical priorities where the transport of basic necessities is of the essence.
Madrid, April 2020.- Transfesa Logistics has recently started a new express 72-hour rail connexion to transport essential, hygiene, and medical products from the terminals in Valencia and Murcia to London.
With the launch of these rail routes, the company adapts its services to the current demand, where the delivery and receipt of food items take precedence to guarantee the population's supply.
For Bernd Hullerum, CEO of Transfesa Logistics, “this is another step in the development of our international corridors, thus expanding services to a strategic segment. In Valencia we have also just opened a 2000m² warehouse for food products. The railway is, now more than ever, the most sustainable and reliable means of transport. ”
To respond to the needs of fleets with special characteristics, such as those for perishable supplies, this type of traffic is carried out in refrigerated boxes, thus expanding the activity that Transfesa Logistics had so far operated on a national and international scale. Currently, these lines serve various companies in the sector to transport fruits and vegetables. The objective is to develop these railway operations with a daily train. For this purpose, a lighter box, of the UNIT 45 type, has been incorporated, which allows around 30 containers per train to be moved. In this way, more products can be included and the capacity of each operation can be expanded.
In addition to this, one of the added advantages of the daily connexion is the reduction of CO2 emissions, since the circulation of 30 trucks on the road will be avoided.
